The Woollahra Community Participation Plan sets out how and when Council will engage with the community on planning matters under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. It applies to the entire Woollahra Local Government Area.
It currently guides public consultation processes associated with development applications and strategic planning projects.
At its meeting on 27 March 2023, Council supported a proposed amendment to the Woollahra Community Participation Plan to no longer require advertising of development applications (DAs) in the Wentworth Courier. The full Council resolution may be read here.
The Draft Woollahra Community Participation Plan 2019 (Amendment 1) is available to view as part of this exhibition process, which incorporates the proposed change.
The intention of this change is to reflect the increasing uptake of digital forms of communication. Development applications are proposed to be advertised on Council’s website, in letters to nearby owners/residents, and via a physical notice on the subject site.
The amendment does not change the current processes for exhibiting changes to Council’s planning controls.
