We have developed a draft Children, Youth and Families Strategy and Four Year Action Plan

Following consultation with more than 500 community members and organisations in 2023, we have prepared a new draft Children Youth and Families Strategy and Four Year Action Plan. The Plan aims to help us address the current and emerging needs of children, young people and families in the Woollahra local government area. We're asking for your feedback by Thursday 18 July 2024.

Draft Children, Youth and Families Strategy

The aim of the Strategy is to ensure our community and places are inclusive and supportive of children (ages 0-11), youth (ages 12-24) and families. The Strategy establishes a clear focus for Council and identifies our role as an advocate, service provider, place-maker, enabler and partner.

The Four Year Action Plan

The Action Plan outlines how we will implement the Strategy. Our Action Plan has been broken down into four key pillars:

Voice – actions to find practical local solutions to issues identified and enable the voices of children, youth and families to be heard.

Working Together – actions to deepen our relationships and trust with organisations, businesses and community members to make Woollahra even better for children, youth and families.

Places & Spaces – actions to create, maintain and activate places and spaces so that children, youth and families have safe and accessible places to meet, connect, celebrate and feel they belong.

Advocacy – how we will advocate for the rights, needs and aspirations of children, youth, families and the organisations that support them.
