Help us unlock lane way activation potential

by addressing commercial waste in Double Bay

Woollahra Council wants to improve the overall viability of the Double Bay commercial centre by activating lane ways for business and community activities like events and alfresco dining. This priority stems from our Public Domain Strategy and our Community Strategic Plan, Woollahra 2030.

To achieve this, we need the help of Double Bay businesses to address the management of commercial waste storage and collection in the lane ways.

We know the lanes are important to our local businesses, not just for waste but also for deliveries, collections and other necessary operations and services. That's why we have asked waste management experts, Talis, to help us understand how we can unlock the potential of the lane ways and create an ambience conducive to business and community activities, events and alfresco dining without disadvantaging the needs of local businesses.

We have a plan to find a balanced solution. Over the coming weeks, Talis will be talking with businesses in the Double Bay commercial centre. Your experience and views are vitally important to the work Council is doing to improve the overall viability of the Double Bay commercial centre by addressing the management of commercial waste storage and collection in the lane ways.

We invite you to complete our online survey by 4:30pm, 20 November 2019. It should only take a few minutes.

Your feedback will provide us with an up-to-date picture of waste collection and management in Double Bay commercial centre. Later, Talis will be talking to key stakeholders including businesses, waste contractors and others, to help identify practical and sustainable solutions.

We know you're busy running a business that keeps our local economy vibrant. We thank you for your time and interest.
