Tell us what you think of our draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2030
Woollahra Council is committed to building a community that is accessible and inclusive for everyone. We’ve developed a draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) for 2026–2030, shaped by ideas and feedback from our community.
We’re now inviting you to share your thoughts on the draft plan by Thursday 28 May.
Overview
Woollahra Council has developed a draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) for 2026-2030.
This draft DIAP sets out Council's commitment to break down barriers and ensure people with either a disability or accessibility challenges associated with ageing can participate in all aspects of local life – from using our services and facilities to enjoying our vibrant community events and finding meaningful employment.
What we heard from the community
Last year we invited the community to share feedback and ideas on disability, accessibility and ageing via an online feedback form, easy-read survey, two drop-in sessions and a community workshop. We asked you to share any challenges you've experienced, what works well and what could make our local area more accessible and welcoming.
Thank you to everyone who made a submission. We heard from more than 50 people including community members and representatives from local services for people with a disability.
You told us you wanted more accessible parking spaces, upgrades to make facilities more accessible, more volunteering opportunities and public awareness campaigns, and many other valuable insights.
Read more about what we heard in our community feedback summary.
Despite broad engagement, gaps remained in consultation with young people under 25, LGBTQIA+ communities, and First Nations voices. Targeted outreach to key contacts was undertaken to address these gaps to ensure input from these groups helped inform our draft DIAP.
We are committed to building on our past achievements and have partnered with Physical Disability Council of NSW to support us with this project.
