Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick councils are seeking feedback on proposed locations for new electric vehicle (EV) chargers to be installed across the three Local Government Areas (LGAs).
We asked for feedback on our first round of proposed locations in August 2024.
We are now asking for feedback on a second round of proposed locations for new EV chargers. Feedback is open from 2-29 October 2024.
Have your say
Feedback from all three councils working together on this project (Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick councils) will be gathered on Waverley Council's website. Your feedback on the proposed locations for EV chargers will help us meet the increasing demand in our local area.
We're working with Waverley and Randwick councils to support electric vehicle charging. The three councils adopted the Eastern Suburbs Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy 2023 and as part of that strategy we identified that 250 public EV chargers were needed in the Eastern Suburbs by the end of 2025
We recognise more chargers are needed to meet growing numbers of EVs on our roads.
There are currently 4,000 electric vehicles registered in Waverley, Woollahra, and Randwick LGAs. This is projected to increase to 10,000 by 2025, and to more than 35,000 by 2030.
To cater to the demand, we need more than 250 new public electric vehicle chargers in Randwick, Waverley, and Woollahra by the end of 2025.
There are currently 57 EV chargers across Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick LGAs, 15 of which are in Woollahra LGA.

In round one (August 2024) we sought feedback on 35 locations for new public EV chargers across Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick and 11 of those were in the Woollahra LGA.
We are now seeking feedback on 45 proposed new locations across Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick and 15 of those are in the Woollahra LGA.

The types of chargers include privately-operated EVIE, EVX and PLUS ES; and Council chargers.
All chargers would be available for public use.
The chargers will be funded through the NSW Local Small Commitments Allocation Grants (LSCA), NSW Government Kerbside Charging Grants, and private sector investment.
Your feedback on the proposed locations for EV chargers will help us meet the increasing demand in our local area. New EV chargers are expected to be installed by June 2025.
