Aboriginal Heritage Assessment Update

3 February 2020

We have now received the Aboriginal Heritage Assessment regarding aspects of the path route and its construction to ensure that we protect and preserve any artefacts of archaeological significance that may be present. The report was undertaken by noted archeologist Dr Paul Irish with assistance of David Ingrey, Site officer with the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council.

The report advised that there are 'no known Aboriginal archaeological sites within the study area, and none were identified as a result of the research or site inspection for the current assessment..... As such it is considered highly unlikely that the construction of the path will directly impact any known or potential Aboriginal archaeological remains.'The assessment has provided recommendations to be implemented during the design and construction to mitigate the chances of impacting subsurface archeological traces.
