We’re keen to hear about your experiences using our Kitchen to Compost program – also known as Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) – which allows you to put food scraps in your green bin, along with garden organics. This service has been available to Woollahra residents since 2008.

We are seeking to understand how many residents currently know about this service, and what might help more people use it, which would reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and create nourishing compost instead.

We invite you to share your feedback via the feedback form below by Monday 23 March.

Your feedback will guide improvements to the service and how we promote it to the community. Complete the survey to go into the draw to win a $300 voucher to spend at a local restaurant of your choice!

Why put food waste in your green bin?

Food scraps make up nearly half the waste our local area sends to landfill each week.

With your help, we can make sure our food scraps are composted instead of going to landfill! This will lower our greenhouse gas emissions and help return vital nutrients back to our environment through compost. This is a great opportunity to take action on food waste to look after our environment.

You can pick up a free kitchen caddy and set of compostable bags from our Council Chambers to help you use your green bin for food scraps.
