Woollahra Council acknowledges the rights of all members of the community, including those who are homeless, to use public spaces, while also recognising our responsibility to provide the community with safe and peaceful environments and amenity.

We've created a draft Homelessness in Public Spaces Policy to encourage the respectful and compassionate treatment of people experiencing homelessness in Woollara’s public spaces such as community venues, sporting facilities, libraries, parks and reserves.

The draft Policy outlines:

  • our responsibility to adhere to legislation related to people experiencing homelessness
  • our commitment to help educate, and make information available to, the community about the rights of all individuals, including those experiencing homelessness.

Our draft Policy aligns with the NSW Government’s Protocol for Homeless People in Public Places.

You can view the policy in the document library on this page.
