The final Strategic Plan has been approved by Council. Woollahra Libraries will now begin work on the exciting initiatives contained in the Plan.
At Woollahra Libraries, our vision is to ‘connect people with ideas’. To set out how we will achieve this vision we have created a Library Strategic Plan for 2021-2026. Woollahra Council and the community created this plan through a series of engagement activities. During February and March 2021 we received 1,247 survey responses, spoke to sixty-four attendees of our focus groups and many more people at seven community pop-ups.
After listening to you, Council drafted this new five year Library Strategic Plan for 2021-2026 to shape the future direction, services and programs of Woollahra Libraries.
We have identified four strategic priorities to guide us over the next five years:
Nurturing lifelong learning, discovery and creativity.
Libraries are a hub for learning that the community engages with in different ways over their lifetimes. They will continue to support the community's need for research, study and play into the future.
Building an engaging and intuitive digital library.
Libraries have an impetus to create effective and engaging 'fourth spaces' that allow customers to navigate library services within a digital environment.
Enriching social cohesion and community wellbeing.
Libraries are safe and welcoming spaces that feel like and extension of home. They play a key part in promoting community wellbeing, integrating with Council's network of community facilities.
Contributing to local cultural and economic development.
Libraries are uniquely positioned as a cultural institution to lead development in local culture, history and arts into the future.

Congratulations to our competition winner
This week Mayor Susan Wynne awarded John Peter Fisher with a brand new iPad.
John was the winner of the Library Five Year Strategic Plan survey competition, who when asked what the Library means to him shared:
“It’s a bonanza, a wonderful lifeline to the world of ideas and people. It always amazes me that the library is so valuable and free to use. How impoverished our lives would be without the library as a resource.”
He has been a member with Woollahra Libraries for almost 30 years and was very thankful for his prize. Congratulations John!
The survey received approximately 1,250 responses from the community with 94.5% of respondents either satisfied or very satisfied with the Library service overall. Thank you to everyone that had their say and contributed, we value your feedback and ideas.
The Library Strategic Plan will be finalised shortly. It will then be placed on public exhibition, providing a further opportunity for community feedback before being submitted to Council for adoption.
