Share your feedback on this fresh addition to the Rose Bay commercial centre

To help further enliven the Rose Bay commercial centre and encourage people to stop, rest, gather and enjoy their surroundings, Council is proposing to activate a section of the footway along New South Head Road with new seating, art and plants.

The proposed installation will be located on a section of the footway that has been recently extended, providing urban greening, accessible public seating and an eye-catching design for the street. We would love to hear your feedback on the plans via a short survey (see survey tab below) until 26 March 2021.

The interwoven seating and plantings will provide a buffer zone to New South Head Road and will encourage passers-by to stop, rest and gather. Elements of the activation that are still to be determined include choice of colour, plantings and materials used based on durability.

The section of Rose Bay where we propose to install the new seating is directly opposite Newcastle Street between the two traffic lights (690 New South Head Road). The proposed bench is approximately 15m in length and centrally located in the Rose Bay Business Centre. If community response to the activation is favourable, there is potential to continue this treatment along the other sections of extended footway (see image 2).

Following community consultation, we will further develop the designs and publish the final plans here after June 2021.
