Recommendations to be taken to the Woollahra Local Traffic Committee

11 August 2023

From 24 November - 22 December 2022 we asked for feedback and comments on parking conditions in Watsons Bay. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback.

Council’s Traffic and Transport Engineers have now completed a review of parking arrangements in Watsons Bay and will present the results to an extraordinary Local Traffic Committee (LTC) meeting on Wednesday 16 August 2023. Read the meeting agenda.

In addition to your feedback, investigations have been undertaken on the existing parking policies, strategies and issues in relation to parking in Watsons Bay. The current parking restrictions, together with the permits issued in this area have also been reviewed and a number of site visits and parking occupancy surveys have been taken to capture typical parking demand and parking operations before, during and after the summer peak and school holidays.

Key recommendations for proposed parking restrictions are:

  • ‘3P 8am-6pm Sat, Sun & Public Holidays 1 Oct - 31 Mar’ restrictions be installed in Cliff Street and Military Road, Watsons Bay, adjacent to Sydney Harbour National Park and Robertson Park.
  • ‘2P 8am-6pm Permit Holders Excepted’ restrictions be installed to replace the existing ‘No Parking Permit Holders Excepted’ restrictions in Cliff Street, Cove Street, Victoria Street, Pacific Street, Gap Road, Dunbar Street, Clovelly Street, Robertson Place and Salisbury Street.
  • Additional ‘2P 8am-6pm Permit Holders Excepted’ restrictions be installed to replace unrestricted parking at locations where increased demand has been demonstrated in Cliff Street (between Victoria Street and Short Street), in Pacific Street, Victoria Street, Cove Street, Military Road (just south of the shops), Gap Road and Robertson Place.
  • Additional ‘2P 8am-6pm Mon-Sun’ restrictions be installed to replace unrestricted parking in front of the shops in Military Road.

What happens after the LTC meeting?

Minutes of the extraordinary LTC meeting will be referred to Council’s Finance, Community and Services Committee (FC&S) meeting on Monday 4 September 2023 for determination.
