Woollahra Council exhibited a planning proposal in relation to 133 New South Head Road and 549 Glenmore Road, Edgecliff [Lots 1 and 37 in DP 255233] (the site), and we invite your comments until Friday 20 May 2022.
The purpose of the planning proposal is to explain the intended effect of an amendment to the Woollahra Local Environmental Plan 2014 (Woollahra LEP 2014). An LEP is a legal instrument that zones land and includes standards and controls to regulate the use and nature of development and the management of land. An LEP can also address matters of heritage conservation.
The amendment to the Woollahra LEP 2014 involves including the Cadry’s building at 133 New South Head Road and the early Victorian sandstone cottage at 549 Glenmore Road Edgecliff, as local heritage items in Schedule 5 of the Woollahra Local Environmental Plan 2014.
A detailed description of the heritage significance of the item is included in the supporting documents to the planning proposal, particularly the Heritage Significance Assessment report.
The planning proposal will proceed through a public exhibition phase and, subject to the Council’s decision after considering submissions, a draft LEP will be prepared to amend the Woollahra LEP 2014. The Council has not been authorised by the Department of Planning and Environment to make the LEP under section 3.36 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
