About the planning proposal

The purpose of the planning proposal is to explain the intended effect of an amendment to the Woollahra Local Environmental Plan 2014 (Woollahra LEP 2014). An LEP is a legal instrument that zones land and includes standards and controls to regulate the use and nature of development and the management of land. An LEP can also address matters of heritage conservation.

The amendment to the Woollahra LEP 2014 involves including the Cadry’s building at 133 New South Head Road and the early Victorian sandstone cottage at 549 Glenmore Road Edgecliff, as local heritage items in Schedule 5 of the Woollahra Local Environmental Plan 2014.

A detailed description of the heritage significance of the item is included in the supporting documents to the planning proposal, particularly the Heritage Significance Assessment report.

The planning proposal has proceeded through a public exhibition phase and a draft LEP has been prepared to amend the Woollahra LEP 2014. The Council has not been authorised by the Department of Planning and Environment to make the LEP under section 3.36 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
