Continuing Cooper Park's vibrant community garden

Council is proposing to renew the user agreement we have with Cooper Park Community Garden Incorporated for use of the current garden site. As part of the renewal process we are required to put this proposal on public exhibition, to understand the community's level of support. We invite you to share your feedback on the garden and its proposed continuation via a short survey below, before Sunday 10 April 2022.

The Community Garden was established in late 2017 and provides a vibrant garden space for the local community to come together, grow organic fruit and vegetables, celebrate sustainability and share their time, experience and produce.

The garden has over 90 members with 50 individual plots and 5 shared communal plots.

The garden site includes individual plots along with very productive communal plots, compost bins, worm farms and native bee hives. An outdoor seating area and pergola provide space for workshops and plant propagation.

Regular events include monthly working bees, workshops and education sessions to help members and the broader community understand the principles for growing sustainable organic produce. This garden was built by volunteers with support from Woollahra Council, creating an inner suburban oasis where members work and harvest fruit, vegetables and flowers. It is highly valued as a place for social interaction and physical and mental wellbeing.

We recognise the dedicated efforts of the community garden members who have contributed to these significant achievements over the past 4 years. If renewed, Council will continue its support of the garden so that it can flourish into the future.
