This consultation has concluded and we are pleased to share that the new Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022 has been adopted by Council as of Monday 27 June 2022. The community's feedback was essential in helping us refine the final plan, and you can read more about what we heard from you in the project updates section at the bottom of this page.

Supporting people with a disability who live, work and play in Woollahra

We are pleased to share with you our new draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP). This plan details the steps that Council will take over the next four years to further support and improve inclusion for people with a disability, and remove remaining barriers to participation within our community.

We would love to hear your feedback on the draft plan, via a short survey(see below) before 5pm Friday 8 April 2022. Your feedback will help us refine the final document, which we will share later this year. Please note there is also both an Easy Read version and audio recording of the draft DIAP that can be downloaded under 'Documents' on the right hand side of this page.

The 2022 DIAP is centred on four key themes:

  • Promoting positive attitudes and behaviours - improving staff and volunteer knowledge, skills and access to resources; educating and upskilling the community, and increasing the visibility of people with disability.
  • Creating liveable communities - providing a range of upgrades, services and activities that foster inclusion.
  • Improving employment opportunities - achieving a higher rate of meaningful employment participation by people with disability in Council through inclusive employment practices.
  • Improving systems and processes - creating easy-to-use systems and processes that allow people of all abilities to participate, engage and be involved.

We have outlined specific actions, timeframes and performance indicators that progress them, and we encourage you to read the full DIAP to see these.

You feedback on the draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan will help us to improve our services, public places and spaces, events and communication so that we can help create a welcoming and inclusive Woollahra.

If you would like support with providing feedback, please call us on 9391 7000 and one of our friendly Customer Services team will help you.
