Sir David Martin Reserve Plan of Management

Help us plan for the future management of Sir David Martin Reserve.

Council is developing a new Plan of Management for Sir David Martin Reserve, located on a peaceful harbour front in Darling Point, adjacent to Rushcutters Bay Park.

Sir David Martin Reserve is home to grassy and paved open spaces, heritage buildings and community facilities.

The new Plan will ensure we are able to protect, conserve and enhance this significant cultural and heritage site, whilst providing for the community's recreation and social needs within the Reserve.

You can help us create a Plan that achieves these goals.

We'd like to know:

  • when and how you use the Reserve
  • how you'd like to see heritage aspects restored and reused
  • what we can do to make the Reserve more attractive to the community
  • how we can improve overall visitor experience.

To have your say on the future management of Sir David Martin Reserve, register on Your Say Woollahra, then take our online survey. The survey closes Monday 22 April 2019.

Your feedback regarding the use of this historic maritime site will inform our draft Plan of Management, which will be placed on public exhibition for further comment later this year.

The map below shows the locations of the heritage buildings across the site, which are referred to in the survey.

The draft report is currently on hold whilst the NSW Government considers listing the Sir David Martin Reserve on the State Heritage Register. If the listing proceeds, for certain projects, it will require Council to obtain approval under the Heritage Act 1977 from Heritage NSW. This additional approval process will add time to the delivery of the draft report which will need to be reviewed and amended prior to the 28 day Public Exhibition. Public Exhibition is anticipated to be scheduled in the early part of 2020 when dates will be made public. At this time submissions from the community...
